Sheryl Gabriella has issued a public apology after the Digital Content Creators Association of Kenya (DCCAK) demanded that she and Tyler Mbaya, popularly known as Baha, apologise following the circulation of their explicit content online.
"To my fans, partners, colleagues and the general public, first and foremost, I would like to sincerely apologise to anyone who has been affected by the video," she wrote on her official Instagram page.
Earlier, DCCAK said the material, which has been widely shared online, was inappropriate and could harm the reputation of Kenya's digital content industry.
The association said it supports responsible content creation and is committed to making the online space safe, ethical, and professional.
It added that it wants to attract more advertisers to digital platforms so creators can earn alongside traditional media such as television, radio, and newspapers.
DCCAK warned that content considered obscene or harmful could discourage brands from investing in the sector and damage the industry's credibility.
In its statement, the association gave Sheryl and Baha seven days to issue a public apology across all their digital platforms.
Failure to comply, it said, could see the matter referred to regulators, including the Communications Authority of Kenya and other agencies that may take legal or regulatory action.
DCCAK also said it may engage social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, to request the removal of content that violates platform policies.
In serious cases, the association said it could seek permanent account deactivation if creators are found to have breached laws or community guidelines.
Beyond the two creators, DCCAK urged all Kenyan content creators to comply with the law and uphold social values, particularly as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
It stressed that maintaining professionalism online is essential to safeguarding Kenya's growing digital content industry.
