The agency identified the suspect as 33-year-old Evans Onyango Kawala, also known as Kidero Jasuba, saying he was arrested at Shujaa Mall in Kayole during a coordinated operation by detectives from the Operations Support Unit (OSU).

The agency also cautioned Kenyans against making public utterances or sharing content that could incite violence, spread hatred or undermine national unity, warning that those found culpable would face legal action.

The arrest follows the circulation of a viral TikTok video in which Kidero Jasuba is allegedly heard making remarks directed at President Ruto.

The video spread widely across TikTok, Facebook and X, sparking mixed reactions online.

While some users condemned the remarks as dangerous and reckless, others questioned what they described as an increasing crackdown on online speech and political expression.

The incident adds to a growing number of cases in which authorities have moved against individuals accused of using social media platforms to spread incitement or threatening content.

The DCI has continued to urge members of the public to report such content through its official hotlines, maintaining that preserving public cohesion and national stability remains a priority.
