Spotify has finally answered one of users' longest-standing requests by expanding the number of items that can be pinned in Your Library.

Previously limited to just four pins, the streaming giant now allows users to pin up to 20 artists, albums and playlists to the top of their library for quicker access.

"For years, we've heard the same question: 'Why can I only pin four things?' Fair question. You wanted more flexibility in Your Library, so we made it happen," Spotify said on its X account on Wednesday.

Pinning is simple across platforms. Users only need to press and hold any item in their library, then tap the pin icon.

Once pinned, items appear at the top of Your Library and can be rearranged at any time, giving users greater control over the content they want to access first.

The update is aimed at users with large music collections and multiple playlists who found the previous four-item limit restrictive.

There is, however, a small difference between the mobile and desktop experience.

On mobile, users can pin certain automatically generated playlists, such as one that collects new podcast episodes, directly to the top of their library.

That automated playlist is currently unavailable on desktop, meaning desktop users must still rely on the "What's New" notification bell to keep track of fresh content.

While that workaround is less convenient than a pinned item, especially for users who regularly switch between their phone and computer, the expanded pin limit is a welcome improvement that offers greater customisation and addresses one of Spotify's most common user complaints.
