A bold man caused a stir at an event in Nakuru after openly criticizing President William Ruto, prompting the event’s MC to forcibly take back the microphone.
The incident unfolded in the presence of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and has since gone viral online, sparking widespread debate.
Introducing himself as John Kamau, the young man said he vied for a parliamentary seat in 2022 and now serves as the national chairperson of the New Generation Aspirants (NGA).
“Kwa majina ni John Kamau. Niligombea kiti cha ubunge 2022 lakini kwa wakati huu mimi ni national chairperson of New Generation Aspirants ama wagombeaji wa kizazi kipya,” he began confidently.

Kamau then called on Kenyans to pray for the country, stating that President Ruto had steered the nation in an undesirable direction, likening his leadership to a driver who had taken people into a forest.
“Kwa heshima, tuendelee kuombea nchi yetu kwa sababu dereva wa hii nchi ameshaipeleka msitu,” he said.
As he continued, the MC and other individuals attempted to cut him off, but Kamau pleaded for a minute.
Turning to the crowd, he added in Kikuyu that while they should pray for the nation, they must also remember that Ruto should only serve one term.
“Dakika moja, dakika moja tu. Si tulisema tunaombea nchi yetu? Mungu awabariki, muendelee kuombea nchi yetu lakini mkumbuke ni one term,” he concluded before handing back the microphone.
The moment drew mixed reactions from the crowd and quickly went viral on social media. In response, the MC urged young people to respect their elders and reminded them to wait for the official campaign season.
“Tuheshimu wazazi wetu. Tungoje siku ya siasa itafika,” the MC said. “Nitawapatia watu waseme jina na kiti wanataka kusimama kama ni MCA wa Njoro alafu tupatane siku hiyo.”
Online, Kenyans chimed in with varied views.
One Instagram user commented, “Hio dakika moja ilikua ya kumalizia na wantam, very nice!”
Another quipped, “Mcee anajam ni kama yeye ndo plesdent.”
A third declared, “Gen Z all the way up!”
