Viral “Ukifika hapo kwa Mbae” boy’s family faces Sh2m medical crisis

In the sleepy hills of Ituntu Village, Maara Constituency, a young PP1 pupil at Gituja Primary School has captured the hearts of Kenyans nationwide.

Musa Kihara, the famously cheeky boy known for his viral directions, "Ukifika hapo kwa Mbae", unknowingly shot to fame with those simple, comical words.

What began as an innocent moment of local guidance quickly went viral online, turning Musa into an overnight sensation.

His wide-eyed charm and ‘Meru’ accent delivery, which resonated far beyond his village, racked up millions of views and shares across social media.

But behind the innocence, smiles and memes lies a story of profound hardship. The pre-schooler hails from a humble family of six children, raised by his devoted parents, Kirimi Chabari and Rose Andenyi.

They live in Ituntu, where basic needs often feel like luxuries. Unbeknownst to Musa, his viral phrase would open doors to hope amid the family’s struggles.

According to a video shared by Gaaru TV, the family’s joy has been overshadowed by a medical crisis.

Musa’s brother, Lewis Baraka, has been battling a severe illness since early January and remains hospitalised, with treatment costs reportedly exceeding Sh2 million.

For Kirimi and Rose, already stretched thin providing for their six children, the debt has become an overwhelming burden.

Daily hospital visits continue to drain their resources, leaving little for food, school fees or even Musa’s own education at Gituja Primary.

While his video brought laughter, it also highlighted a family’s silent struggle, one mirrored in many homes across the country amid tough economic times.

Now, the Kenyan online community has a chance to turn Musa’s lighthearted viral moment into a real lifeline.

Kenyan digital creator Janomax has since come forward seeking Musa’s details in a bid to offer financial support to the boy and his family.
