How often do you tie your hair before you jump on your bike to work? How about your scarf? Or your kimono?

Well, you could be staring at danger.

On X, @missgatheca ignited debate after posting about her experience on a boda boda when her loose clothing got tangled, landing her on the ground.

"I was on a boda. My long kimono got tangled on the back tyre, pulled me and I fell off and rolled a bit on the highway. I was unconscious for a bit, luckily my boda guy rushed me to hospital and waited till I was done with the doctors," she narrated.

"First, thank you all for the wishes. Just some injuries all over (please recommend scar creams), boda guy said he saw me took a last breath and knew I was a goner, what saved us was he wasn’t speeding and there were no cars behind," she added.

As some X users wished her quick recovery, others took the opportunity to caution against riding on motorbikes with loose clothing.

"All ladies and Masaais should be aware of this. Once you are on a bike, bring all your loose clothing close to you. Handle them with utmost care. Don't let them fly all over.

Pole sana, wishing you quick recovery," @mutugikirimi1 said.

Others recounted past experiences, like one @SimonNj6, "Sorry, this once happened to a muslim lady friend as well. Her abaya did the same, it was gruesome!"

Bodabodas have become a widely preferred means of everyday transport in the country. Their safety, nonetheless, has been questioned, even in parliament.

Barely weeks ago, the House considered the Public Transport (Motorcycle Regulation) Bill, 2023, which sought to regulate the industry. It proposed, among other things, the establishment of a County Motorcycle Transport and Safety board.
