Ugandan music royalty Jose Chameleone is turning a bold new page in his life and he is not doing it alone.

After publicly declaring he is officially ditched smoking and alcohol for good, the legendary singer is not only getting applause from fans and friends, but also some intense backup from family. His brother and fellow musician Weasel Manizo has come out swinging, literally.

In a fiery interview with Spark TV, Weasel made it crystal clear: anyone who dares hand Chameleone a drink will have to deal with him.

“I will thump anyone I find giving alcohol to Chameleone because doctors told him not to take any,” he said. “I just hope the government doesn’t throw me in jail for how badly I’ll hurt them.”

The protective outburst comes after Chameleone’s serious health scare last year. The Valu Valu hit maker was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, a condition doctors linked to long-term alcohol abuse.

The illness took a visible toll drastic weight loss and a sharp decline in his overall health forcing him to face some harsh truths and make life-saving changes.

Now, he is embracing a second chance.

“This is my new beginning,” Chameleone said during a recent media tour in Kenya. “The first part of my life is done. I’ve got just three years until I hit 50 it’s time to slow things down and focus on what really matters.”

Currently in Nairobi, where he touched down last night from Uganda, Chameleone last visit a fortnight ago saw him meet fans and engaging with leaders like Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, showing the world a healthier, re-energized version of himself.
