Carol Kim, the second wife of popular Kikuyu gospel artiste Karangu Muraya, has addressed a viral video of her appearing to cry, footage that sparked speculation and online chatter about possible trouble in her marriage.
Responding to the rumors, Carol dismissed the claims entirely, clarifying that the video was from 2020 and part of a TikTok challenge that used a fake tears filter.
“This was just a TikTok challenge I did in 2020. Now these idiots are spreading it around,” she said in a blunt statement, before switching her TikTok account to private.
She also labeled those circulating the video as "fools."
The video resurfaced amid speculation that all might not be well in Karangu's household, especially after he surprised his first wife, Triza Njeri, with a Nissan X-Trail.
The gesture came shortly after Triza expressed dissatisfaction with her smaller Demio car, especially in contrast to Carol Kim’s Toyota Harrier.
Since Karangu publicly introduced Carol in February, netizens have closely followed the dynamics between the two women. During a recent interaction with fans, Triza was asked whether she had accepted polygamy. Her response, "I have no co-wife”, sparked further curiosity and online debate.
The situation grew more complex during Triza’s album launch on April 27, where Karangu donated Sh200,000 and publicly declared his continued love for her.
This was despite Triza having previously announced that they had separated. Karangu, however, countered her claim, insisting they are still married.
The two have recently appeared together in brand collaborations, and Triza has shared glimpses of her new home and furnishings online.
Their children currently live with Karangu.
Following Triza’s remarks denying a co-wife, Carol Kim maintained her position, asserting that she is legally married to Karangu and brushing off any perceived rivalry.
Both women continue to interact with Karangu’s social media posts, fueling speculation that each is vying for his attention.
Online reactions have been divided. While some TikTok users sided with Triza, others supported Carol. One user wrote, “Bwana ya wenyewe ni kama gari ya polisi, lazima irudi station”, while another commented, “Mnatoa wapi nguvu ya kulilia bwana ya wenyewe?” . Others encouraged Carol to move on, saying “Bwana ya wenyewe ni sumu”, while some offered her virtual support.
Despite the ongoing drama and divided public opinion, Carol remains adamant that her marriage is intact, choosing to ignore the rumors and maintain her stance.
