American pop star Selena Gomez has publicly defended her husband, music producer Benny Blanco, after he faced online backlash over a viral clip from the debut episode of his podcast, Friends Keep Secrets.
In footage seen by TNX Africa, Blanco was hosting the show in rapper Lil Dicky’s living room when he placed his visibly dirty feet on a couch, prompting overwhelming reactions from netizens.
The episode, which featured Lil Dicky as a guest, quickly circulated on social media, drawing mixed reactions about Blanco’s hygiene.
Amid the criticism, Gomez shared an Instagram story showing a cosy moment with Blanco and captioned it, “I fall more in love every day.”
Blanco later addressed the issue during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show alongside Lil Dicky.
“First of all, it’s the facility’s fault, it’s not mine. I have great feet,” Blanco told Jimmy Kimmel.
In a bid to prove his point, Blanco, who married Gomez this past September, removed his shoes and socks on set to display what he described as clean toes.
“Someone zoom in on my foot. Look at that. Clean foot!” he said.
Lil Dicky, born David Andrew Burd, defended his friend, suggesting the floors in his home may have been dirty due to crew members moving in and out during the first day of filming.
“It was the first day we filmed anything, so crew was coming in and out. The floor probably was a little bit dirty,” Lil Dicky said.
The podcast episode also featured a moment in which Blanco farted into a microphone as part of a joke, although he did not address that incident during the television appearance.
Social media users shared varied reactions to Gomez’s public show of support. One user, Taylord, wrote, “This makes me feel uncomfortable.” Another commented, “Isn't that what love is? Unconditional.” Marie Love added, “Is she trying to convince herself.”
Gomez and Blanco were married on September 27, 2025, in an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, California.
