Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli and George Ruto, the son of President William Ruto, were among the high-profile spectators in Budapest for the highly anticipated Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

Sharing clips and photos on X, they joined thousands of football enthusiasts who flooded social media with reactions toward their teams of choice.

In one of the videos seen by TNX Africa, George Ruto could be seen seated amongst PSG fans despite being an Arsenal supporter.

Dressed in a jungle-green shirt, he cheekily peeled back his top to show the logo of the white Arsenal jersey he had worn underneath.

DIG Masengeli shared selfies of himself at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.

He showed the filled-up stadium with fans from different teams excitedly enjoying the game.

The police boss also snapped a selfie with other Arsenal fans, a move that drew mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media who questioned his presence at the overseas match.

The presence of prominent Kenyan figures coincided with a historic night for European football. Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their European title by defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties, following a grueling 1-1 draw after extra time.

The match saw the English and French champions clash in a highly tactical battle of endurance.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring early for Arsenal in the sixth minute, capitalising on a defensive error by Marquinhos to rifle a left-footed strike into the roof of the net.

The Gunners, freshly crowned as Premier League champions, then retreated into a disciplined defensive block that frustrated the French giants for the remainder of the first half.

The Parisian pressure finally paid off in the 65th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was clumsily brought down in the box.

Ousmane Dembélé stepped up to convert the second-half penalty, drawing PSG level and eventually sending the final into extra time for the first time in a decade.

After a scoreless extra period, the match was pushed into a nerve-shredding shootout.

Arsenal's miss in the shootout, culminating in defender Gabriel Magalhães firing the final spot-kick over the crossbar, allowed PSG to secure the victory.

With the win, Luis Enrique's side became just the second team in the modern era to win back-to-back Champions League trophies.
