Directorate of Criminal Investigation detectives have arrested a boda boda rider linked to the cold-blooded murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were.
Amos Barasa Kasili was cornered in the Kibera Darajani area during an intelligence-led sting operation.
According to DCI, Barasa was not just an innocent rider earning an honest living; he played a central role in the deadly ambush, ferrying the gunman who executed the lawmaker in broad daylight.
The detectives revealed that Barasa was riding a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number KMFZ 413W, which was used to both trail Ong’ondo’s car and facilitate the assassin’s escape after the fatal shooting.
The bike was later found in Barasa’s possession during his arrest, sealing his fate in the growing web of suspects tied to the assassination.

CCTV footage near Parliament captured the same motorbike trailing the MP’s vehicle minutes before the attack, further corroborating Barasa’s involvement.
Under intense questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to being hired for the job and admitted to receiving a payment of Sh50,000 to provide logistical support for the hit.
Police profiling unearthed a murky past. Barasa is a repeat offender, well-acquainted with Nairobi’s criminal underworld.
Investigators disclosed that he had previously served time at Industrial Area Prison, where he is believed to have crossed paths with some of the key players behind the brazen killing.
Authorities say Barasa, who poses as a regular boda boda operator by day, is a trusted accomplice of armed criminal gangs that operate with alarming coordination.
Barasa was arrested and is in custody awaiting arraignment, as detectives continue to pursue other suspects.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has vowed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice is served for the slain MP.
Ong’ondo was gunned down in Nairobi on April 30, 2025.
