A video recorded by a distressed man from Garissa has gone viral after he accused Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale of locking himself inside a mosque, allegedly denying other Muslims entry to perform prayers.
In the clip, the man films from outside the mosque's perimeter and passionately questions Duale’s actions.
“Sasa huyu CS Duale ako na Uislamu gani akifungia watu mosque? Kwa sababu amejenga huu msikiti, ndio maana anajifungia ndani?” He says, questioning what kind of Muslim would lock others out of a mosque simply because he funded its construction.

The man went on to urge the former Defence Cabinet Secretary to stop using his influence to mistreat fellow Muslims, saying that building a mosque does not give anyone the right to deny others access to worship.
“Hatutaomba kwa huu msikiti tena. Ameshafanya kitu ya kushangaza sana,” he concludes in frustration.
The video shows several men in kanzus crowding outside the closed main gate, visibly agitated, with some holding their heads in disappointment.
A police vehicle and a white car are seen parked nearby, with officers stationed outside, suggesting the presence of the CS inside the mosque.
Many worshippers had gathered at side gates, hoping for access, but all entry points appeared locked.
The incident happened before Muslims around the world marked Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar, marked by prayers, charity, and communal celebration.
The video has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with Kenyans online expressing confusion, frustration, and sarcasm:
@ObiWanobeah joked, “Leta nguruwe mrushe ndani.”
@slymyax12 asked, “But kuna option ya kuenda mosques zingine ama?”
@GOsunga31338 queried, “For what reason would he close the mosque gate?”
@OkangJavan advised, “Mwachieni Uislamu alafu mkuwe Wakristo. Wakristo hawana ubaguzi.”
@Kabese61 added, “Church and mosques, zote ni drama tu. Hizi vitu ni fake. Anyways, it’s your issue, deal with it bros.”
@kapedo_lokoloko concluded, “So wrong on the day of Arafah. He even advertised it on his platform, now we know it wasn’t an invite but a show-off.”
On Thursday, June 5, Duale officially opened the Masjid Al Abrar in Garissa, stating that the mosque is a heartfelt gift to the people of Garissa and a hub for both spiritual growth and social support.
On this blessed Day of Arafa, my family and I had the honour of officially opening Masjid Al-Abrar a modern mosque built in Garissa Ndogo, Garissa County, in memory of our late parents.
