Embakasi man dreamt of wife being strangled hours before her lifeless body was found

A chilling murder inquiry has gripped Embakasi after the tragic death of 21-year-old Naomi Wangari Mwangi, whose husband claims to have dreamt of her being strangled, only to wake up to the harrowing reality that she had been killed.

The key suspect, Jacob Wamalwa, is now facing possible murder charges as investigators piece together the final hours of Wangari's life.

On the night of March 17, Wangari received a call from a female friend inviting her for a night out. She handed her phone to her daughter to keep her entertained and left home, never disclosing her destination.

That night, she joined her friend and Wamalwa at a local pub, where they drank and socialised.

Wamalwa, described as particularly generous, paid the bill via M-Pesa and later accompanied the two women to a disco matanga, where the partying continued.

But the night took a dark turn when Wangari’s friend left with her boyfriend, leaving her alone with Wamalwa.

Around 4 am, a woman waiting for her sister to return home heard a struggle outside. Looking through her window, she saw a man pinning a woman to the ground, sexually assaulting her, while another man stood nearby watching.

Believing her sister might be the victim, she screamed for help, startling the attackers. Neighbours rushed to the scene, but the men fled into the night.

They found Wangari half-naked, disoriented, and attempting to dress herself. Before anyone could assist her, she let out a blood-curdling scream and collapsed. She died on the spot.

Back home, Wangari’s husband had returned from work to find their daughter alone. Concerned by his wife’s absence, he began searching for her to no avail.

That night, he was jolted awake by a nightmare in which strangers were strangling Wangari. He hoped it was just a dream.

But the next morning, while walking back from escorting their daughter to school, neighbours broke the devastating news, his wife had been found dead.

Heartbroken, he rushed to the police station and was referred to the City Mortuary, where he confirmed her identity. The body bore visible bruises and trauma.

A post-mortem revealed Wangari had suffered sexual assault and strangulation. Forensic tests later confirmed that Wamalwa’s DNA matched samples collected from the victim, tying him directly to the crime.

The case, now nearing its conclusion, may soon see Wamalwa formally charged with murder.

Meanwhile, Wangari’s family, still in mourning, is left grappling with the senseless loss of a young mother whose life was brutally cut short.
