KFCB to screen Kenya vs. Zambia CHAN 2024 match at Kasarani under new fan regulations

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has been selected by the CHAN 2024 Local Organizing Committee to oversee the official public screening of the PAMOJA CHAN 2024 matches, beginning with the highly anticipated clash between Kenya and Zambia on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The screenings will take place at the Safari Rally Grounds in Kasarani, Nairobi, where fans will watch the continental tournament on giant outdoor screens.

Organisers have promised a vibrant experience featuring enhanced audio-visual setups and live entertainment, ensuring supporters enjoy the matches even outside the stadium.

However, in line with new Confederation of African Football (CAF) directives, strict fan regulations will be enforced.
Only a limited number of spectators will be admitted into the Kasarani grounds, with seating arrangements, controlled access, and designated family zones forming part of the safety measures.

African Nations Championship (CHAN) Local Organising Committee chairperson Nicholas Musonye early this week warned fans to stay away from the venue if they had no tickets to avoid a repeat of security breaches as had earlier been witnessed.

"The risks are very high since Kenya has already been fined three times," Musonye said. "If we misbehave on Sunday, the Kenyan quarter-final match could be moved to another country. That would be a huge loss for us as a nation. Future competitions which FKF is bidding for, apart from AfCON, could also be compromised."

KFCB's role in the screenings comes only days after President William Ruto launched the Board's state-of-the-art cinema-mobile truck ,a project designed to boost local talent by creating platforms for young creatives to showcase and monetize their work.

KFCB Acting Chief Executive Officer, CPA Paskal Opiyo, described the cine-mobile truck as a modern mobile cinema equipped with a 63-square-metre LED screen housed in a container with a hydraulic lift system.

The truck is self-sufficient, powered by a generator and fitted with a high-capacity sound system capable of serving up to 800 people.
