Chilling video captures last moments of Makueni girl stabbed in suspected love triangle

Police in Makueni County are investigating the gruesome killing of a female college student who was allegedly stabbed to death by her friend in Makindu on Sunday, November 2.

A chilling video that has gone viral online captures the young woman staggering out of an apartment, clutching her neck as blood gushes down her clothes, moments after the fatal attack.

The victim, identified as Gloria, was a second-year nursing student at Goshen Medical College in Thika. She and her classmates had reportedly been celebrating the end of their clinical attachment at Makindu Sub-County Hospital.

“We had gone out to celebrate our last day of attachment. In the morning, I learned that my classmate, Gloria, had been stabbed to death. She was a close friend,” said Mary Wanjiku, a heartbroken colleague who spoke to reporters.

According to preliminary police findings, the tragedy unfolded shortly after the group of three nursing students returned to their rented apartment following a night out.

Investigators believe that a heated argument broke out when two of the students allegedly tried to lock Gloria out of the room, sparking a violent confrontation.

Neighbours reported hearing screams before spotting the injured woman crawling out of the house, pleading for help.

One eyewitness recounted the harrowing moment, “Nilijaribu kutafuta usaidizi watu wa Makindu walikata. Nikajaribu ata kuambia mtu wa bodaboda nimpatie elfu moja nichukue pikipiki yake nimpeleke mgonjwa hospitali, akasema nimwache pekeyake, yeye akarudi kulala,” he said, lamenting how bystanders failed to intervene.

Suspect arrested

Gloria was rushed to Makindu Sub-County Hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival due to a deep stab wound to the neck.

The main suspect, identified as Sharon Muteti, who also sustained knife injuries, was treated at the same hospital before being arrested for questioning. Police confirmed that they are pursuing murder charges against her.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and eyewitness videos to reconstruct the sequence of events. Early indications suggest that alcohol may have played a role in the fatal altercation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the college community, with many students calling for counselling and guidance programmes to help learners navigate stress and interpersonal conflicts.

As investigations continue, Gloria’s tragic death now joins a growing list of young lives cut short by senseless violence.
