Shock as CCTV captures 12-year-old Patience Mumbe running before mysterious death

New and chilling CCTV footage from Pipeline Estate has revealed what are believed to be the final moments of missing 12-year-old Patience Mumbe before she was found brutally murdered.

The Grade 7 pupil was reported missing on Thursday, December 4, after she failed to return home.

Hours later, several shop cameras around the neighbourhood captured her sprinting away from home at around 6:30 pm.

The first clip, recorded from a business premises near her residence, shows Patience running hurriedly toward Outering Road before veering off into a narrow path roughly 200 metres away.

At one point, she glances back, as if checking whether she was being followed, then continues towards a nearby bus stop, where she disappears from view.

It would be the last visual trace of her alive.

Two days later, her body was discovered in a ditch within KAA Estate by children playing football, nearly five kilometres from where she was last filmed, and disturbingly, less than a kilometre from Embakasi Police Station.

Horrified residents who rushed to the scene said Patience’s body was found with a shoelace tied around her neck, her hands bound behind her back, and visible bleeding from her nose and private area.

“We want justice for that girl because, as parents, we are also afraid. There is a primary school here, and our daughters pass through this area. We cannot use this path at night because we are scared; we don’t have security lights,” said resident Jane Wanjiku, who spoke to Citizen TV.

As the family cries for justice, detectives have launched an intense investigation, including a detailed analysis of the scene and alleged tracing of all vehicles and mobile phones detected in the area on the morning of Saturday, December 6, hours before the body was recovered.

A post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death is set for Tuesday.
