As Kenya gears up to co-host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August 2025, the newly refurbished stadium Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani has been handed over to the Local Organizing Committee, setting social media ablaze with excitement and patriotic pride.

From the outside, the revamped Kasarani now boasts a sleek all-around canopy and modern floodlights that make the 60,000-seater stadium look like something out of a FIFA dream. On the inside, it is luxury meets functionality.

“I have today officially handed over the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, to the Local Organizing Committee, marking a critical milestone as we accelerate preparations for the African Nations Championship (#CHAN),” stated Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports CS Salim Mvurya during the inspection and handover ceremony to the Local Organising Committee, led by Nicholas Musonye.

The refurbishment, done in line with Confederation of African Football (CAF) recommendations, is not just cosmetic, it is a full-on upgrade.

The VIP and VVIP sections now ooze class with foldable, cushioned auditorium-style seats complete with cup holders and generous legroom.

Guests in the VVIP area can now enjoy refreshments from a chic kitchenette tucked behind the section, ensuring their drinks are served in style, with a cupholder ready to cradle their beverage as they soak in the action.

Security has not been taken for chance, as the Presidential area has been beefed up with bulletproof glass for top-level protection.

Players have not been left behind either.

All the changing rooms now feature more than 25 individual lockers, tactical boards, multiple showers, modern washrooms, and even charging stations, ensuring that Harambee Stars and visiting teams stay match-ready in comfort.

The stadium will not only host the CHAN 2025 final but also serve as the base for Kenya’s very own Harambee Stars, who will kick off the tournament in a thrilling opener against DR Congo on Sunday, August 3 at 3 PM.
