Bishop Muthee Kiengei is facing significant backlash after making controversial remarks about content creator Pritty Vishy during a recent interview.

The bishop later issued a public apology on Facebook, acknowledging that he had crossed a line.

In his apology, Bishop Kiengei wrote, "Pritty Vishy, I am really sorry, and I take this moment to highly apologise for mentioning your name in a show where I went overboard and mentioned you in a wrong way. Please find it in your heart to forgive me for addressing you incorrectly. This will never happen in the future; I take it as my mistake. Pole, my sister."

Pritty Vishy responded to the apology through her social media, voicing her disappointment and frustration.

"Pastor @bishopbenjcmchurch, I thought you read the Bible? Do you know the verse that says we are all created in the likeness and image of God? Do you have a wife? Daughter? Mother? Do you know the meaning of respect? Do you respect them? What do you preach to your church members?" she asked.

Vishy also addressed the embarrassment she felt due to the bishop's comments, particularly considering the impact on her family.

"How do you feel now that you have embarrassed me publicly? Do you know I have a mother? Do you know how she feels about this?" she wrote.

She then challenged the bishop to repeat his comments in front of his congregation, adding, "Since you did so well to remind me that I am ugly, unattractive, and fat—so let's meet in your church, stand on that altar in front of your church members, and you should repeat all those words."

The incident has sparked widespread reactions from the public, with many questioning the bishop’s conduct.

Winie Mwash commented, “Hapa Bishop, repent. Ume kosea Mungu na Pritty Vishy. Mungu alituumba zote kwa mfano wake, hakuna watu waliumbwa kwa mfano wa mnyama. Kusema mtu si mrembo unamaanisha yeye si mtu, ni mnyama. Point of correction, kila mtu ni mrembo mbele za Mungu. Na cha muhimu sana, uzuri na urembo wa mwanamke ni tabia, sio sura.”

Another Facebook user, who identified as a follower of Bishop Kiengei’s church, expressed concern over the remarks, stating, "Bishop Kiengei's comments on Pritty Vishy were not only inappropriate but also out of line with the teachings of compassion, love, and kindness that he preaches. The image of our church is now tarnished, not by external forces, but by its own leader."
