Massage therapist Stephen Kariuki, better known as Steve the masseuse of ‘Wakaniaru University’ recently said he dislikes kids, something that did not go down well with his fanbase.

The outspoken TikToker, who has now found an audience online due to his humorous takes on life, was speaking in an interview with Obinna where he was asked about his thoughts on family and children.

“I do not like children. In fact, if you bring a child here right now I will leave. A crawling child, a child who’s crying…that is how much I hate kids.

“Don’t get me wrong. I see what you (Obinna) do with your kids and I feel it but I wouldn’t stand a child,” he said.

His sentiments did not go down well with some of his followers who said they would ‘drop out of Wakaniaru University’.

Here are some of the reactions:

“I knew something was always off with Steve. Bye.”

“The word hate says a lot about Wakaniaru, kids are innocent and angels.”

“He speaks as if he was born an adult.”

“I am no longer in the class of Wakaniaru.”

“The word hate is too strong bro.”

Others, however, said he had a right to live child-free and should not be judged for his life choices.

Steve on why he prefers female clients

In a previous interview on Radio Maisha, Steve said he stopped massaging men because they were very touchy and would ask for extras.

The masseuse said women were ‘quite understanding’ unlike men who were often naughty.

“I do not massage men. They are very naughty. I used to massage them but they were very touchy…I never went to their houses because I wanted to be safe,” he said.

When asked about how he started, Steve said he came to Nairobi from Nyeri and had to look for a way to put food on his table.

He initially wanted to be a pilot but ended up studying hairdressing and holistic therapy.

“I wanted to be a pilot…When I came to Nairobi I had to look for a way to make ends meet and I would look at what other masseuses were doing and slowly gained interest.

“I started by massaging some close friends and they really liked it. I realised I was passionate about it and pursued it wholeheartedly,” he said.

At the time, he admitted that at times things ‘get out of hand’ and his clients ask for extras but he is true to his calling despite the temptations that come with it.
