Dancehall star Wyre has reached another career milestone after being invited to join the Recording Academy's 2026 New Member Class, earning a place among thousands of music professionals helping shape the future of the global music industry.

The She Say Dat hitmaker shared the news with fans on social media, describing the invitation as both an honour and an opportunity to contribute to the music industry beyond the stage.

"I'm so excited to share that I've joined the Recording Academy's 2026 New Member Class," he wrote.

"It's an honor to be part of a community of music creators and professionals who are helping support, uplift, and advocate for the people who make and shape music."

Wyre added that he looks forward to playing a role in the Grammy Awards process while lending his voice to conversations that influence the future of the industry.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to use my voice, contribute to the Grammy Awards process, and be part of conversations that help move our industry forward. Music is shaped by so many voices, genres, backgrounds and perspectives, and I'm proud to add mine to the mix," he said, signing off the post with his trademark moniker, LION.

The Recording Academy announced that it had extended membership invitations to more than 4,000 established music creators and professionals across different genres, disciplines and backgrounds as part of its commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive membership.

The new members will help advance the Academy's mission of supporting music creators by amplifying their voices, protecting their rights, creating opportunities for growth and providing assistance when needed.

"Every year, we look forward to welcoming a new group of dedicated music creators and professionals through our membership invitations," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said.

"Our membership is the engine of the Grammys, and we're excited for invitees to join our vibrant community, engage with their peers and help shape the future of the music industry."

The Academy revamped its membership model in 2019, replacing its decades-old recruitment process with a peer-reviewed, community-driven system following years of criticism over diversity and representation.

News of Wyre's invitation sparked excitement online, with fellow musicians, fans and industry players flooding his comment section with congratulatory messages as they celebrated the latest international recognition for the veteran artiste.
