Richie G has been making waves in the Kenyan music industry with his creative and innovative approach.

The affable singer and video director has been privileged to work with various musicians as an artist and producer. As an artist, he collaborated with Naiboi on the song “Agenda.” As a music producer, he has worked on a few audios for King Kaka and Femi One, and as a video director, he has created videos for Guardian Angel, Oga Obinna, Jimmy Gait, Kelele Takatifu, and many other celebrated artists.

Passionate about creating unique sounds and visuals, Richie has become one of the most sought-after video directors in Nairobi, bagging several awards, including the Pulse Music Video Award for Director of the Year.

With his wealth of experience and knowledge, he can create stunning visuals and captivating soundscapes that bring projects to life. Whether a music video, commercial, or documentary, Richie has proven his forte by doing an amazing job.

Richie was born and raised in Nairobi, but his family later moved to Kisumu after his mother was transferred to Maseno University. They stayed there for years before returning to Nairobi.

“I was pretty young when my mum was transferred to Maseno University, but we eventually came back to Nairobi. I was in Standard Seven then,” he says.

Nairobi, a city known for its hustle and bustle, is sometimes not the place for the faint-hearted. From pickpocketing on the streets to more organized crime, theft has often been a common occurrence.

When Richie came back, he was advised that Nairobi was a dangerous place. “I was advised to treat everyone in Nairobi with suspicion to be safe. This meant I was always aware of my surroundings and didn’t trust anyone at all,” he says.

This cautious approach went on for a while, to the point where he got a girlfriend but still didn’t trust her. He thought she was a thief.

“I was then in Standard Eight when I got my first girlfriend. The vibe was all cool and chill, but back in my mind, nlikuwa naona tu anaweza nipora mbaya.”
