Kenyan startup Candy Kash is the newest entrant to a growing local mobile gaming sector. Founded in 2020 by entrepreneur Eliud Gilisho, the gaming platform is quickly gaining traction.

“We wanted to create a platform where gaming skills could be more than just a pastime,” Gilisho told Pulse.

The chief executive director said that it was through observation that led to the development of an app that could monetize gamers' skills.

“The idea was born during the Covid-19 lockdown when I observed millions of young gamers spending countless hours on their phones without tangible returns,” he said.

He said said since its launch, Candy Kash has achieved significant milestones. The platform has paid out millions of Kenyan Shillings to winners, with instant transactions ensuring seamless financial benefits.

Gilisho sees Candy Kash as more than just a gaming platform. He envisions it as a solution to youth unemployment and a catalyst for economic growth.

"We stand at a pivotal moment in history, where the potential for innovation and positive change is boundless," he stated. "As the problem solvers our country needs, we possess the energy, zeal, and passion to transform challenges into opportunities,” he said.

"The ultimate goal is to create a multi-billion-dollar company listed on global stock exchanges, setting a new benchmark in the gaming world," said Gilisho.

The rise of Candy Kash reflects a growing trend in Africa's tech ecosystem, where young entrepreneurs are leveraging technology to address local challenges and create global opportunities.

It also highlights the potential of the gaming industry as a source of employment and economic growth in developing economies.
