Social media personality KSI has announced his departure from the YouTube collective Sidemen after 13 years, bringing an end to a defining era for one of the platform’s most influential creator groups.

KSI, a founding member since 2013, played a central role in shaping the Sidemen brand through football content, comedy sketches and large-scale challenge videos that helped the group grow into a global digital entertainment powerhouse.

His exit was confirmed by a spokesperson, ending weeks of speculation among fans who had initially dismissed the reports as a stunt.

The decision had been difficult and weighed over several months, KSI said, adding that expanding commitments across multiple ventures had made it harder to remain fully involved. He stressed that there was no conflict behind his decision, describing it as a personal choice driven by competing priorities.

The Sidemen issued a statement expressing surprise and sadness at his departure, while praising his contribution to the group’s growth and success.

"We’re sad to share the news that JJ has decided not to continue as part of the Sidemen," the group said. They added that they fully supported his decision and wished him well, stating, "We had an amazing time on this journey with him, and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours."

The group also reassured fans that their plans remain unchanged and that they will continue producing content and expanding their projects.

"This doesn’t change anything for the rest of us," the group stated. "We’re still committed to creating the best content, events and shows that we can for you all."

KSI addressed his fellow members Simon Minter, Josh Bradley, Vikram Barn, Tobi Brown, Ethan Payne and Harry Lewis, thanking them for their years of collaboration and noting his belief that the group should move forward with members who can fully dedicate their time.

The Sidemen have grown into one of YouTube’s most successful collectives, with a combined audience exceeding 140 million subscribers.

Beyond YouTube, the group has expanded into a food chain, clothing brand and annual charity football matches. KSI’s career has similarly evolved into music, boxing, entrepreneurship and football club ownership.

His departure marks a significant shift for the Sidemen, closing a foundational chapter in their history while signalling a new phase for both KSI and the collective.
