Househelp steals Sh1.5m, elopes with boss's husband

A domestic worker accused of stealing Sh1.5 million from her employer’s safe and eloping with her employer’s husband has been arrested and charged with theft and causing grievous harm.

Emma Isogol, 28, is alleged to have committed the theft on various dates between January 11 and 16 , 2026 from her employer, Koshi Komora, in the Kamae area of Kahawa West.

Following the incident, Isogol reportedly moved in with Komora’s husband, an officer in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), in Lucky Summer estate, where she was arrested by police while in his company.

In a separate charge, Isogol is accused of causing grievous harm to Komora’s sister, Zena Hadhidha Omar, on February 19, 2026 in Kasarani sub-County, Nairobi.

Court documents and police reports reveal that Komora and her husband had been experiencing domestic disputes.

In July 2025, Komora sought financial assistance from her sister Zena to construct a house in her rural home. Zena transferred Sh1.5 million, which Komora stored in a safe in her bedroom without informing her husband.

Komora left for a work mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo in August 2025 and returned to Kenya on January 7, 2026. Upon checking the safe, she found it intact. Three days later, her husband left for work and later informed her that he had travelled to her rural home.

Four days after her husband’s departure, Komora granted Isogol leave to visit her parents. Unbeknown to Komora, Isogol and the husband allegedly moved in together.

Isogol was expected to return to work after 10 days but failed to do so. She claimed to have been bitten by a snake in her rural home and requested to be replaced.

Unaware of the theft, Komora later invited Zena to accompany her in purchasing construction materials. Upon opening the safe, they discovered the money was missing, prompting a report to authorities.

Cash not recovered

Police located Isogol living with Komora’s husband, who reportedly expressed satisfaction with the arrangement. Isogol allegedly stated that the stolen money would not be recovered, and no funds were retrieved at the time of her arrest.

As a KDF officer, the husband was summoned to the police station. Isogol was directed to board a police Land Cruiser for transport.

However, before complying, she became agitated and attacked Zena, kicking her in the stomach at the site of a recent surgical procedure, causing grievous injury.

Isogol further accused police of attempting to kill her. She was restrained, taken to the station for processing and questioned.

Isogol was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe at Makadara Law Courts, where she was granted a bond of KSh 1 million. The case will be heard in July 2026.
