Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has unveiled a newly constructed administration and tuition block at Shianda Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

The politician, known for his comical approach to issues, flaunted the magnificent storeyed building that is ready for occupation on his social media.

Sharing the news on his official Facebook page, Salasya expressed his delight at the project's completion.

“This project reflects my administration's ongoing dedication to enhancing the quality of learning environments for students, ensuring they have access to modern educational infrastructure,” he wrote.

“Nothing beats the joy of seeing the face of progress. It is a journey we began, and one we remain proud of as a community,” he added.

The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread praise from netizens who commended the MP for delivering tangible development.

Nyakundi Orina commented, “This is the difference between a 'Boss' and a 'Leader'!”

Amos Ngulu added, “This is the kind of updates we need to hear from leaders, not promises.”

Wairagu Wairuru echoed the sentiment, posting, “Hapo sawa P.K, this is what citizens are asking. You delivered. Congrats for a job well done and not allowing bureaucrats to bask in your glory.”

However, the project also drew criticism from some quarters. Murumba Chiuli questioned its sustainability, asking, “If every MP is putting up a KMTC, what will you do with overproduction of nurses? This is what we call quantitative development rather than emphasis on qualitative development.”

Responding to the concern, Salasya defended the project: “KMTC is critical because the total population a school can have is 50 students or 100 students; same to Clinical Medicine, and they are strict. It’s not like a TVET institution, and we can have as many as possible.”

Since assuming office, Salasya has remained a trending figure, not just for his politics, but also for his distinct hairstyle, lifestyle choices, and vibrant social media presence, where he shares insights into both his personal and professional life.

Recently, he made headlines after being forced to flee Nyayo Stadium when a group of rowdy youth confronted him during the Kenya-Gabon football match.

Despite the controversies, Salasya has received notable recognition. In a recent survey by research firm Infotrak, he ranked fifth among top-performing MPs with a score of 61 percent.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino led the list at 72 percent, followed closely by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro at 71 percent.
