In 2023 alone, at least 309,419 cases of STIs were attended to in healthcare centres across the country. Among the infections reported include HPV, gonorrhea and chlamydia.
The Ministry of Health has raised an alarm over increased cases of sexually transmitted infections and infertility, in adolescents and young adults.

Dr, Farooqui adds that there’s an increase in awareness and the stigma is lifting a little, so people are talking about it more but we still have a long way to go.
