The Government has issued a notice for collection of passports, saying the 110,059 uncollected travel documents will be disposed off in six months
Parliament has recommended that Kenyans applying for passports receive the travel document within three days of submitting their application.
Kenyan passports will be processed within seven days of application from August 1, 2024, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has said.
Immigration Principal Secretary Julis Bitok says the government is targeting to issue at least 1 million passports by the end of the year.
Passport issuance delay at Nyayo House, Nairobi, is expected to persist for another 100 days, further frustrating Kenyans seeking employment abroad.
PS Bitok urged Kenyans whose passports are ready for collection, to do so from their respective Immigration offices.
