Kenyan Police FC left-back and Harambee Stars captain Aboud Omar toured the Starehe Affordable Housing Project in Nairobi alongside teammates Mike Kibwage and Sylvester Owino.
The visit gave the players a firsthand look at the progress of the government-backed housing development and an opportunity to inspect the design and layout of the apartments.
A video of the visit quickly went viral on social media, with many Kenyans praising the project.
Reacting on X, one user wrote, "Sasa kila mtu anapata yake hivyo for free. Must be nice," while another commented, "Hii nayo nikipewa nafasi naingia juu sitamani mingi."
During the tour, the players visited fully furnished model units, allowing them to see what the completed homes will look like. The exercise offered the footballers a closer understanding of the project's progress and the quality of the housing units.
President William Ruto had earlier promised cash rewards and housing support to Harambee Stars players following their impressive performances. The initiative was intended to recognise their achievements and motivate them to continue excelling on the pitch.
Under the arrangement, the government committed to contribute Sh1 million towards the purchase of a two-bedroom affordable housing unit for each player, with beneficiaries expected to cover the remaining cost.
However, while touring the Starehe project, Omar revealed that the President had given each player the freedom to choose and acquire a housing unit in any town or city across the country.
The Affordable Housing Programme, one of President Ruto's flagship initiatives, is expected to run until 2032, with the government targeting the delivery of 200,000 housing units annually by 2027.
