Influencer Nara Smith reveals daughter's cancer diagnosis in touching post

Model and influencer Nara Smith has revealed that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, has been diagnosed with cancer.

Smith intimated that the diagnosis came late last year after she and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, noticed "something suspicious" on their daughter and rushed her to the emergency room.

"They didn't quite know what to make of it," Smith said in an Instagram video posted on Wednesday.

"When we took her to our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment. I don't know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom's intuition, but the first thing that I felt was, 'She has cancer.'"

According to Smith, their pediatrician immediately referred the family to a hospital for further evaluation, where Whimsy was diagnosed with cancer.

The author of the cookbook Homemade, who has built a massive online following by creating elaborate meals and snacks from scratch, said doctors told them the disease had already spread and that Whimsy needed to begin chemotherapy immediately.

Smith did not disclose the specific type of cancer her daughter has.

Reflecting on the ordeal, she said she found comfort by connecting with other families who had gone through similar experiences.

"Throughout all of this, I have been on a plethora of forums, social media, also talked to parents and family in the hospital, and all of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me," she said.

The influencer also admitted that coping with the diagnosis has been overwhelming, particularly while balancing family life and work.

"Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging," she said.

Despite the hardships, Smith continues to care for her growing family alongside her husband.

In addition to Whimsy Lou, the couple have three other children: five-year-old Rumble Honey, four-year-old Slim Easy, and their youngest daughter, Fawnie Golden, who was born last year.
