Omanyala remains upbeat despite Olympics setback

Ferdinand Omanyala, arguably Kenya’s best sprinter in recent years, is a confident man despite the disappointment he suffered during the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.

The runner had been on form going into the summer games and was determined to make the country proud.

The Commonwealth Games champion clocked 10.08, the same time he posted in the heats to finish a disappointing eighth position in the star-studded semis that was clinched by Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson with 9.80, followed by Fred Kerley of the United States of America in 9.84.

The final was won by USA’s Noah Lyles who dipped right before Thompson.

“Whatever you’re facing right now—it’s not the end of your story. God is with you and always will be.

“Thank you to everyone who believes that the Kenyan sprint story will never be the same again,” wrote Omanyala on his Instagram.

Kenya has for a long time been a powerhouse in long-distance races but Omanyala tore the script and placed the country on the global map in the 100m dash.

His followers congratulated him for carrying Kenya’s flag high despite, urging him to keep his chin up.
