Imprisoned American rapper and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has sold one of his luxury waterfront mansions on Miami's exclusive Star Island for about Sh7.1 billion ($55 million) while serving a 50-month federal prison sentence.

The mansion, which Combs bought in 2021 for Sh4.5 billion ($35 million), features six bedrooms, eight-and-a-half bathrooms, a resort-style swimming pool, spa, private dock, guest house, and sweeping views of Biscayne Bay.

Before his 2024 arrest, Combs reportedly cleared the remaining mortgage on the property, allowing it to be used as collateral in support of his unsuccessful Sh6.5 billion ($50 million) bail application.

The estate has now been sold in a private transaction to businessman John A. Franklin, who financed the purchase through a Sh2.4 billion ($18.5 million) mortgage from San Diego-based Axos Bank.

Combs has not completely cut ties with the exclusive Miami Beach neighbourhood.

He still owns the neighbouring mansion at 2 Star Island Drive, which remains his primary coastal residence.

The sale comes as Combs serves his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

A federal judge handed down the 50-month prison term in October 2025 following a high-profile trial in New York.

Although he was acquitted of the most severe charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, a jury convicted him on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. The charges involved his former girlfriend Casandra "Cassie" Ventura and another woman who testified under a pseudonym.

During the sentencing, the judge addressed the victims directly.

"We heard you," Judge Arun Subramanian said in the courtroom, adding that exploitation would face real accountability.

The hip-hop mogul is currently appealing both his conviction and sentence.

The sale now marks one of the biggest changes to his real estate portfolio since his imprisonment.
