A viral TikTok video has offered Kenyans a rare look inside the rural homestead of Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, capturing a sprawling family compound that blends residential living with ongoing high-end development in the countryside.

The footage, widely circulated online, reveals a vast, well-kept property surrounded by lush greenery, landscaped walkways, and rows of trees that enhance its serene rural character.

The compound accommodates several family homes, including a bungalow belonging to his mother and a separate residence occupied by his brother, underscoring a closely connected family setup within the expansive estate.

Salasya’s own residence stands out with its clean white exterior and brown-tiled roofing, reflecting a modest but modern finish.

However, attention is drawn to a large three-storey mansion still under construction at the centre of the compound.

The structure, which already displays a bold contemporary design, features large floor-to-ceiling windows intended to maximise natural light.

It also includes a prominent entrance area, a double-door garage, an upper-floor balcony overlooking the compound, and a striking vertical glass section extending across multiple levels.

Although the building is yet to be completed, with finishing work such as painting and final detailing still pending, its scale and design already signal a significant investment in the project.

The true cost of the structure is not yet public, though Kenyans online have put an estimate at a firm Sh17-20 million.

The clip has since generated widespread online interest, with social media users praising the MP’s architectural taste and the calm rural setting of the estate.

"He posted his payslip earning less than 1000/= Where's is he getting the construction money? CDF?" asked one on X.

"1st, how does a 1st time MP who was just struggling before economically afford such a house? 2nd, why build a house that big with just salary & still very young ? I hope he invested in other income generating ventures because those houses can easily be liabilities," advised another.
