Kenyan artist Remcy Don has voiced his disapproval on social media regarding those who claim to look like celebrities and then expect financial support or special treatment.

Remcy, known for his striking resemblance to international star Jason Derulo, made the comments at the heels of a debate involving Lang'ata MP Jalang'o and his look-alike, Stanley Mulee Mutisya.

In an Instagram post, Remcy Don stressed the importance of authenticity and respect for those who resemble celebrities. He argued that looking like a famous person should come with a sense of responsibility, not entitlement.

"It’s important to approach being a celebrity look-alike with authenticity and respect," Remcy said. "If you claim to look like someone famous, you should have qualities or achievements that match their status."

He further explained that being a look-alike involves more than just physical appearance. "It’s not just about looks—it’s about embodying aspects of the celebrity’s success or lifestyle," Remcy said.

Remcy warned that demanding help or favours solely based on resemblance without achievements undermines one's credibility. "Claiming to look like someone while lacking achievements only makes us seem like a joke."

Remcy's post came during recent uproar involving Stanley Mulee Mutisya, who has been making headlines for his claims that Jalang'o abandoned him after allegedly promising to elevate his life.

Mutisya, who first met Jalang'o during an interview on the MP's YouTube channel in November 2021, has expressed frustration that people often mistake him for Jalang'o and expect handouts, while he himself has received little to no support from the MP.

Mutisya shared his grievances during a recent interview, saying, "Watu huniita Jalang'o kila mahali wakitaka niwapee kakitu na mimi sina kitu. Alinipea tu Sh1,000. He promised to help me but he never did. It’s now three years down the line. He doesn’t answer my calls."

Mutisya further recounted how he had to use most of the Sh1,000 he received from Jalang'o to pay for an Uber ride, leaving him with just Sh100.

He also mentioned the pressure he faces from his landlord due to his financial struggles, despite his resemblance to the MP. "Mpaka landlord ananiulizanga, 'wewe unakaa MP wa Lang'ata na bado rent unachelewesha.'"

Adding to his frustration, Mutisya recalled a conversation with his father, who questioned the value of their resemblance if it doesn’t translate to any meaningful support: "Sasa huyu Jalang'o mwenye mnafanana na yeye anakusaidia na nini so far? Kama hawezi kusaidia basi ni wa nini?"

In response, Jalang'o dismissed Mutisya’s claims, making it clear that he does not feel responsible for him simply because they look alike.

"Munajua nacheka nini? Hii ni maajabu! Yaani mkifanana sasa ukuwe responsibility yangu," the MP responded.

He added that if Mutisya shared his work ethic and determination, he wouldn’t be in the position to make such complaints.

"Ungekuwa unafanana na mimi pia kwa kujituma na kutafuta haungefanya hii interview! So ukiulizwa what do you do for a living… ‘Ooohh nafanana na Jalas!'"
