PHOTOS: Kindiki makes dawn tour of Talanta Stadium construction ahead of completion

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday inspected the nearly complete Talanta Sports City Stadium in Nairobi as construction entered its final phase ahead of commissioning.

Kindiki toured the 60,000-seat facility along Ngong Road alongside senior government officials to assess progress on the landmark project, which is expected to boost Kenya's capacity to host major international sporting events.

Sharing an update after the inspection, Kindiki wrote on social media, "The magnificent 60,000-seater Talanta Sports City along Ngong Road, Nairobi is near ready. Talanta ni faya sana, pongezi Rais."

Photos from the visit showed Kindiki touring different sections of the expansive complex as engineers and project supervisors briefed him on the remaining works.

Officials have previously assured that the stadium is in its final stages, with workers operating day and night to ensure the project is completed on schedule.

"To ensure timely completion, work is being undertaken on a 24-hour schedule with day and night shifts, keeping construction progressing around the clock," Defence PS Patrick Mariru wrote in a post on X.

Final touches are underway at the 60,000-seat Talanta Sports City Stadium along Ngong Road in Nairobi.

The project is being overseen by the Ministry of Defence through the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), with the government saying the stadium is being built to world-class standards.

Once complete, it is expected to become one of Kenya's premier sporting venues.

The government says Talanta Sports City will strengthen the country's sports infrastructure while creating employment opportunities, boosting tourism and supporting business growth.

The facility is also expected to host local and international competitions while helping nurture young sporting talent.

The stadium is part of President William Ruto's broader plan to expand sports infrastructure and position Kenya as a leading destination for continental and global sporting events.
